Story
Please help us in our Sponsored Paddle from Porthcurno to The Isles of Scilly and support Surfers Against Sewage. The Ocean needs our help and as a team let's try and turn the tide on Plastic Pollution. See the story here https://vimeo.com/285082897
The team is made up of Mike Lacey, Sam & Will Boex, Ben Skinner, Lukas Skinner, Emily Currie, Jayce Robinson, Alan Stokes, Rich Lacey & Kelvin Batt and Dom Moore who all share the same passion for the beaches and oceans and have an inner drive to stop the plastic pollution that's plaguing them.
Coming together were going to tackle this mammoth journey via paddle boards of which O'shea have kindly sponsored for the task, thank you! We hope to raise £5000 for Surfers Against Sewage so they may continue the fantastic work they do in campaigning and keeping our oceans and beaches clean.
WE DID IT! YEEEEEEEEW!
The toughest challenge any of us have done!
So many emotions shared along the journey and to finally make it to the Scilly's after 11 gruiling hours was the most incredible achievement and such a team effort.
Thank you so much for all your support.
We really appreciate every bit of it.
Here are some crazy facts and figures to get your head around on why we need to act and act fast:
- 100 million marine animals die a year to our plastic contamination of the oceans.
- Annually approximately 500 billion plastic bags are used worldwide. More than one million bags are used every minute.
- 50 percent of the plastic we use, we use just once and throw away.
Nothing we use for 2 minutes should pollute the ocean for 500 YEARS!
