Story

Thank you to all those that have supported and sponsored us for the London Marathon so far. Unfortunately we won't be running in 2018 as our gorgeous boy is being treated for cancer. We have both deferred our places until 2019 and want to keep the fundraising going please. If anyone could still help us reach our target it would be much appreciated.

Thanks for taking the time to visit our Just Giving page. We are hoping to raise £3000 for Genetic Disorders UK (£2200 is official target) and are seeking sponsorship for running the London Marathon on 22nd April 2018. It will be mine and Isobel's first marathon and your support (and hard cash!) would be much appreciated.

Both of our lovely children were born with very different genetic disorders. Our son Toby (age 12) has the rare MPS 1 Hurler Syndrome and our daughter Olivia (age 8) has Turner Syndrome. They are each one in a million....well, to be more precise, the chance of a Hurler and Turner sibling pair is actually about 1 in 25 million!

We have always said we would one day like to raise some money for at least one of the charities that support families like us so we could give something back. Back in May we applied for the London Marathon 2018 ballot and Isobel was fortunate enough to get a place in the draw. We really wanted this to be a family affair, so as you can imagine we were over the moon when Genetic Disorders UK accepted my application for a charity place. Running for Genetic Disorders UK means that not only do we not have to worry about any kind of “disorder favouritism” within the family, we will also be helping other individuals and families whose lives have been affected by what are extremely varied and often complex and difficult to manage disorders.

Thanks again for visiting and please spare some money if you can.
