Marie Curie provides care and support for people living with any terminal illness across the UK. Our nurses work night and day in people’s homes and our hospices offer specialist care. We also support people emotionally, provide practical information, and match them with trained volunteers.

Story

On the 29th of July 2017 my precious Dad, Marc Henry passed away at Marie Curie hospice in Penarth, after a courageous battle with a rare disease which affected his heart and lungs called sarcoidosis.

My Dad fought his illness for twenty six years, due to various complications in the last eighteen months of his life he required specialist care and was able to receive that from all the staff at the hospice.

In November I will be participating in a trek through Sri Lanka in memory of my Dad to raise money for Marie Curie and to help to continue the outstanding support they provide to patients with a terminal illness.

My Dad was an inspiration to me and my brother Spencer, the reason behind my team name is particularly personal to us. Our Dad was always up beat no matter what card life dealt him and maintained his humour till the end.

Ive chosen to honour him by part taking in this challenge, this will be my first ever trek and for those of you who know me well this is way out of my comfort zone.

Please help me in raising funds for such a fabulous and extremely worthy charity by donating all that you can as every penny counts.

Here’s to Team Fatboy!

Thank you very much,
Jet Ward-Henry.
