Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
The above photo of Team Large was taken in August 2016 at the very happy occasion of John and Cat's wedding in Wales.
In May this year I had my scheduled mammogram and was shocked to be called back as an abnormality had been found. Following further tests I was informed, much to my relief, that the calcifications that had shown up were nothing serious. However I later discovered on the biopsy site a lump which I assumed to be scar tissue. This did not reduce in size over the coming weeks but because of the preparations for the upcoming wedding I did not seek further advice until September. As a result I was diagnosed with breast cancer in October and since then I have had surgery and started medication, and radiotherapy commences in the New Year.
This has come as a bit of a surprise to us all as you can imagine, so to make something positive out of a negative, I signed Team Large up to the Discover Adventure fundraising Night Hike up Mount Snowdon in May 2017.
Team Large will be very grateful if you feel able to contribute to our chosen charity Breast Cancer Care. On the day I was diagnosed in the fog of shock and disbelief, I was given an invaluable information folder provided by the charity which I was able to read as and when I was able to take on board the details of what was to come. Since then I have been grateful for that booklet and know that emotional support is available should I need it in the future.
