BHF London to Brighton Bike Ride 2017 · 18 June 2017 ·

Far too many of us have felt the pain of losing someone we love. With your donations, we power groundbreaking cardiovascular research to save and improve lives, bring hope to families, and keep hearts beating across the UK.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Many of us have lost loved ones through heart disease. Team Mount Carmel* have entered the 2017 BHF London to Brighton Cycle to raise money that goes directly towards the £100 million per year heart disease research that BHF fund.

BHF have funded some of the world's most pioneering heart science. In 1961 only 20% of babies born with a heart defect lived to their first birthday. Today, most babies born with heart defects survive. Pacemakers help people control their heart conditions. Statins are lowering cholesterol levels for millions (including me!), reducing risk of heart attack and stroke. Heart attack treatment has been revolutionised. And many inherited conditions can now be diagnosed and successfully treated preventing sudden death.

*A word on our sponsors for this event, Mount Carmel. Put simply, I would not be even writing this page, let alone cycling to Brighton if it had not been for the life-changing help that I received at Mount Carmel. Please visit them at http://www.mountcarmel.org.uk to learn more about the work they do and perhaps to make a donation, however modest, to this most deserving charity that is helping people right now to rebuild their lives.

Thank you,

Matt
