Terry's Zip World Velocity over Penrhyn Quarry

Zip World Velocity over Penrhyn Quarry · 12 November 2022
Hello, my name is Terry I've lived in Woburn Sands for nearly 35 years now I guess I could call myself a local now, but my heart is
still in Wales.
They say you don't know what's around the corner well these
words couldn't have been truer, I'm 62 worked all my life mostly self-employed as a roofing and cladding contractor mostly specialist work all over the country.
In 2019 November the 18th to be precise I was dealt with the
diagnosis that literally knocked me and my family for six, Neuroendocrine Cancer basically a Cancerous Tumour attached to my pancreas known as the silent killer, often not detected until it's serious or even till it's too late to treat. Not going into too much detail to the next two years of what I went through I would not wish this on anyone.
I ended up having a major operation what they call the Whipple procedure which means most of your abdominal organs in your stomach basically your whole digestive system is taken away. So, after my operation in March 2020, which lasted 10 hours, to say how I felt afterwards is probably an understatement the operation all took place three days before COVID-19 kicked in and we went into lockdown which stopped the whole country from functioning.
The hospital sent me home literally five days after my operation because of COVID. The next weeks and months mostly medicated, injections, special diets all took its toll on my state of mind and my physical appearance. I was so strong and fit before nothing could
faze me and my life just turned upside down.
So Fast forward two years later it's amazing what the human
body can endure and recover, now I'm back working which I never thought I would ever do again getting stronger every day, the hospital is keeping a close eye on me now and for the next five years which is all reassuring.
So I'll cut to the chase a good friend of ours decided to organise a zip wire challenge in Snowdonia and asked me and my son Tyler if
we'd like to take part so I thought if I'm going to do this why not raise money for a much needed cause Neuroendocrine Research were there for me and they gave me a lot of help and advice when I
needed it, I also wanted to do this as a thank you to everybody that helped me the Neuroendocrine Cancer UK the NHS all the nurses that looked after me, the care was fantastic so this would be my way of saying just a little THANK YOU
So, if you can donate however small it might be it is all going to a fantastic charity, which is very close to my heart they really saved my life.
