Story

Thank you for visiting this page.

Terry Darby was a wonderful, fun loving man, and loved by many. Whether your connection to him was family, neighbour, youth club, church, skiing, business and not least golfing he was a great friend to all.

He was sadly diagnosed with cancer in August and died just 4 weeks later in late September. This experience was difficult for all involved. However, we were very lucky that Terry, his family and friends were able to spend our last days with him in the beautiful hospice of St Francis.

This hospice transformed a very stressful circumstance for Terry and all involved giving him; a room where his family and friends could visit, excellent nursing staff and doctors who were able to make his last days painless and stress free, wonderful grounds where family, grand children and friends could enjoy spending time with him.

In short, Terry was at peace in his last days and this was in large part because of this hospice. It's difficult to describe, but because of this both Terry and loved ones were able to better handle, and more than that, make the most of the end of his life. This has a long lasting positive impact on many. And it was Dad's wish, and our own, that this can be afforded to as many others in their own or own loved one's last days.

The hospice is a charity, run with just 20% funding from the NHS, and mainly relies on donations to keep going.

So we're asking for donations to go to this special hospice. We will also hold a self-funded cycling event next year for many people to take part in and to further celebrate Dad's memory and support the hospice.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
