CAMFED supports millions of vulnerable girls from rural communities across Ghana, Malawi, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe to attend school and to create the future they imagine - for themselves, for their communities, and for Africa.

Story

As many of you may know I have been trying to get a place in the London Marathon for a few years, and this year I finally succeeded through the ballot! Therefore its time for me to start harassing you all for sponsorship!!

I have been lucky enough to have amazing opportunities and a great education behind me. Others are not so fortunate, so using this once in a lifetime challenge I want to raise money and awareness for a brilliant charity, Camfed.

They support and encourage girls to attend secondary school in Zimbabwe, Zambia, Tanzania, Malawi and Ghana, by paying their school fees, purchasing supplies and uniforms. They take this further after secondary school by providing loans for young women to set up start-up-businesses. The aim is to cut the cycle of poverty, by empowering women and supporting them into self sufficiency in the long term.

It costs just £180 to send a girl to secondary school for the year, a new school uniform is £25, and school supplies for the year are just £5...

If you would like to support this cause, along with me attempting to make it over the 26.2 mile finish line, pleaseeee donate as much as you can! Every pound counts as you can tell :) Thank you SO much and think of me in the grim January evenings running the streets of London!! Tess xxx
