Great North Run 2021 · 12 September 2021 ·
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I'm starting to train for my first ever half-marathon, The Great North Run, and I need your support to motivate me and raise money for the awesome Dogs Trust! I've only ever managed a 10k before so this a big feat for me. If you know me, you'll know that I'm a huge animal lover. I grew up around dogs, they've brought me loads of happiness and the best kind of snuggles when I've needed them. Now I want to do something for some doggies out there. On a selfish note, running has become a staple part of my life and since taking it up I've seen a massive improvement in my mental (and physical) health. But it can be tough to get started sometimes - so I'm doing something that gives me a reason to train even on the coldest, wettest Manchester day!
Dogs Trust are the biggest Dog Welfare Organisation in the UK and have been doing great work since 1891. They care for over 15,000 dogs every year and are reliant on voluntary donations. Since 1999, the have micro-chipped over 1.1 million pooches and neutered 827,000 in the UK. Since beginning the Freedom Project, they have fostered 1700 dogs, enabling over 1280 families to flee from domestic abuse. They've funded 22,000 veterinary treatments for more than 7,700 dogs whose owners are homeless or in housing crisis. They are active in putting an end to puppy smuggling and they work on many projects outside the UK to vaccinate dogs against rabies.
Please consider supporting this brilliant charity and motivating me to the finish line! Thank you :-)
