Story
On 21st January 2018, my nieces Chloe May and Isabel Laurie Shattock were born 17 weeks prematurely and cared for at the Neonatal Unit in St George's Hospital London where they lived for 16 days.
Without the world-class care from the team at St George's, the girls would not have been given the fighting chance that they had, my sister (Helen Shattock) and brother-in-law (Laurie Shattock) would not have been able to spend that precious time with their daughters and I would not have had the privilege of meeting them.
As First Touch is the neonatal charity for St George's Hospital, Helen and Laurie have suggested to raise money for this charity so that the Neonatal Unit can continue to support sick and premature babies. The charity funds vital medical equipment, specialist nurse training and a welfare scheme for families.
I will be running the 2018 London Marathon in memory of Chloe and Isabel. Although the girls' lives were short, as a result of the work of the team at St George's and money raised by First Touch, the girls were able to live a life filled with love, specialist care and dignity.
Our target is to raise £3100 for First Touch, which would be enough money to buy two specialist cots and two breastfeeding chairs for the next generation of baby twins.
All donations would be greatly appreciated by Helen, Laurie, myself and family.
