Me and my mother, an inspirational academic and artist (Jackie Hatfield) were extremely close to the point where she made great sacrifices for other people, including myself. Way back in 2007 when she was very ill, I promised her that I would ride from London to New York via Iceland to raise money for the Roy Castle Lung Foundation. When she died, the North London Hospice gave her the compassion she deserved and they were also added to the charities who I wanted to support. Life of course goes on and the need for a 9 to 5 job prevailed.

However, cut to 2016 and the realisation that such a trip is possible set in. I have worked in cultural institutions where people's talent adorns the walls. My mother was someone who was socially very open and gave many creative people a chance when she was a lecturer at the University of Westminster. As a response to this, I wish to create a small rotating exhibition space for people I meet along the way to exhibit their work if they wish. I will also create a 'permanent' exhibition in the gallery where artists from the UK could have their work displayed for a minimal amount of money each month during the entirety of the trip for some of my own subsistence costs. One last detail is that, instead of weaving its way from London to New York, the art gallery will be pedalled around the world.
