Story
During a recent discussion over several glasses of red wine about fitness, cycling, and worthy causes Claire and I realised (once
sober) that we had somehow managed to talk ourselves into signing up to take part in the Help for Heroes Big Battlefield Bike Ride in September 2017.
This means that we have both committed to cycle approximately 350 miles each, over 6 days riding alongside over 200 fellow fundraisers and members of the wounded, injured and sick military community. We are told that we will experience a physical and emotional challenge unlike any other!!
Starting in Lille, France, we will pass through Waterloo then follow the 1944 route of the Allied Forces through the Low Countries towards Arnhem. Throughout the trip we will hear from our team of expert battlefield historians who will bring World War Europe to life, sharing
experiences the soldiers would have faced during and post conflict. We will also have daily opportunities to reflect on our aching limbs and and pay our respects to those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Culminating in Arnhem at the site of “Operation Market Garden” along with our cycling comrades we will witness the annual commemoration of the parachute jump which has come to epitomise this period of military history.
Previously described by supporters as being “truly inspirational, the Big Battlefield Bike Ride (BBBR) provides us both with a special opportunity to be a part of the Help for Heroes family and for us to
remember the incredible sacrifices made by all those who fought so heroically.
Please wish us both good luck on this grueling ride and please support us as generously as you are able by donating here, filling in a sponsorship form or by attending one of our forthcoming fund raising events……Every pound eases the Pain!!........Every pound you donate
goes straight to the Charity.
Many
Thanks
