Story

Join me on Saturday 1st October for The Sobellevision Project Party at Exeter Hall in Kidlington.

There will be a live band and food will be served.

The Party is a fundraiser and the main goal is to raise money to go towards The Sobellevision Project. Mike Dennis initiated this project after his experiences at Sobell House.

The project aims to replace the current wall mounted televisions at Sobell House with easy to use high quality TVs.

Mike says:
"As you may know, in August 2014 my lovely wife Rachel died in Sobell House after having lived with cancer for 11 years. She spent the last two weeks of her life there and although she was very frightened at the prospect of being admitted, it quickly proved to be just right for her. I cannot speak highly enough of the staff and the love and care they provided for Rachel, me and my family. It is a truly special place, not a phrase I would use lightly.

Each room on the hospice ward has a wall mounted television for which you have to pay £10 a day to use. It is a complicated system, there is a difficult login procedure and when you finally get there the picture and sound quality is poor.

All my wife wanted to do was keep up with The Great British Bake Off.

promised myself that after Rachel had died I would do my best to influence a change. With the help of our local MP Andrew Smith, it has been agreed that the franchise agreement can be put aside and the current system replaced by easy to use, high quality televisions."
