Story

Updated on Feb 6th 2012 at 6:58 PM from the JustGiving API

Many many thanks for all of the donations (and comments) made already. It's great to know that we can still all feel charitable in the current climate. I'd welcome more words of support - even if those words of support include calling me a nutter :-) its all in a very good cause.

It was just before Christmas when I was asked if I could provide a short disco to kick-start the February 2012 24 hour Danceathon in aid of Cancer Research, and leave a loudspeaker behind so that everyone could dance throughout the remaining hours (and hours) of the event.

After spending a lovely Christmas & New Year with my family and extended family, and visiting the Cancer Research website, I decided to "go for it" and DJ for the entire 24 hour Danceathon, not just the kick-start opening Disco.  I was more than happy to provide "support" for the sponsored dancers, and decided not only to stay awake for the full 24 hours needed of me, but to make sure that those who are dancing for all, or part of those 24 hours will not just achieve their sponsored number of hours dancing, but actually enjoy them.

Then some fellow DJs who've I meet both face to face, and in online DJ communities said they'd like to sponsor me for what they and I agree will be a long, hard, effort.

To ensure that not only myself, but also the music stays pumping for 24 hours, I'll be using no laptops to provide main audio, just real DJ hardware with thanks going out to Denon DJ and Bose for the loan of some of the best DJ equipment available today.  I wont be using pre-set playlists either, every single track, including live requests from the sponsored dancers will be individually cued up, ready to play manually - throughout the entire, long, 24 hours.
