We need your help to create a state-of-the-art cancer research facility - right in the heart of Manchester, which will save lives and re-write the future of cancer.

Story

When I was nine, my uncle Bob died of an inoperable brain tumour. We used to visit him in the hospice, as doctors struggled to work out how to treat him. He was 37 when he passed away.

He inspired me to study, and work for a PhD. Now he's also inspired me to run. I don't usually run for charity, but this is such a big goal, I thought I'd make an exception this time. This year, I'm also hoping to finish a PhD in Classics, so 2020 is the year of the big goals, especially in memory of the uncle who first inspired me to try.

After having experienced a cancer scare myself in 2018, and knowing a couple of friends who have been recently diagnosed, I feel this is an important cause, and worth the effort.

Working in partnership with The Christie NHS Foundation Trust and Cancer Research UK, The University of Manchester is building a world-leading cancer research centre. The new centre will bring together the largest concentration of scientists, doctors and nurses in Europe all working together to tackle cancer head-on.But this will only be possible with the help of people like us.Please join me in re-writing the future of cancer by sponsoring me today!
