It was easy to find a challenge - a 54k coast walk around the Isle of Wight.
It was easy to find a charity - Dorothy House Hospice Care.
It will never be easy to come to terms with our loss of family members and friends through the devastating disease of cancer.
The Incredibles - Jane, Amanda, Rachel, Debbie, Oona and Jeanette are undertaking this challenge in memory of Steve Woodland, a cherished husband, brother in law and friend. We are 6 ladies who have known each other for over 30 years and have been through lots together...amazing times and sadly some very challenging times. Like a lot of you, those challenging times have been seeing close family and very dear friends having to face and deal with cancer.
Steve was a true inspiration to everyone who knew him and you may know that he spent almost the last 3 years undergoing intensive treatment for cancer which was absolutely relentless. However, his determination to overcome helped him remain positive throughout. Steve's last few weeks were spent at Dorothy House Hospice and it was his wish that we should help this charity in any small way we can, in the hope they may continue to support patients and their loved ones during their time of need.
To give us some focus, show our support for this incredible charity and to honour Steve's memory, we have decided to raise some money and walk 54k around the Isle of Wight. The walk will take place on 2 May and promises to be a real test of stamina and determination, with an anticipated duration of 10 hours constant trekking. With training now well under way, The Incredibles are ready (or will be) for the challenge!
To participate, we have pledged to obtain a minimum of £1800 in sponsorship monies which, in real terms, is less than 25% of the daily sponsorship required so that Dorothy House can continue to provide their specialist care.
Please, please help us in our aim to raise funds to help this extremely worthy charity continue to provide care for patients with life limiting illnesses and support for their families in their times of need.
Thank you very much!
