We’ve chosen Cancer Research UK as our charity because we all have personal experiences of how cancer can turn lives upside down. All four of our team have family or friends affected by cancer and two of our mums have or have had cancer so this is close to our hearts.  Last year Ben’s mum was diagnosed with breast cancer and over the last year has had surgery and radiotherapy is now back at work. David’s mum was diagnosed with metastatic bowel cancer 5 years ago and has had chemotherapy and many operations to keep the cancer at bay. David’s mum's first crucial series of chemo was a new combination thought to be more effective than the standard and it worked. Vital clinical research funded by Cancer Research UK, such as testing new medicines or new combinations, can save lives and we want our fund raising to go towards something that makes a real difference in the fight against cancer.
