Story

HELP US RAISE FUNDS FOR BREADWINNERS AND LONDON YOUTH ROWING

With seven of my colleagues from Sustain, we're taking part in Race The Thames Virtual 2022. Race The Thames is the annual fundraising event run by London Youth Rowing (LYR).

From 24 January over seven days, our team of eight will run, skip and jump (ok, run, swim, cycle, and exercise)  the equivalent of the length of the Thames, 346km; so approximately 6.2km each day per person.

50% of the money raised will be used to help support LYR projects in London and Leeds. LYR's programmes allow young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to take part in rowing, giving them the benefit of participating in the sport and allowing them to fulfil their potential.

The other 50% will go to Breadwinners, who provide work experience for refugees and young people seeking asylum at their London and Brighton market stalls and through their online bread delivery service. They also provide employability training, mentoring and social networks for their programme participants.
