Our vision is for there to be a world where families and their children, irrespective of their disability or impairment, can reach their full potential and thrive. Our mission is to support and empower families with children living with a disability so that everyone gets to live their best life.

Story

Support our very own superhero Taylor Hardy as he spends the next few weeks ‘virtually’ cycling the 603 miles from Lands End to John O’Groats to raise £3000 for the charity close to his family’s heart, Friends and Families of Special Children.

When he is not busy being a superhero, Taylor (11) is a young carer for two of his three brothers, who have additional needs. The family have had a particularly challenging year, even by 2020 standards, and more than ever they have really needed the support they’ve received from Friends and Families of Special Children.

Taylor said “I love being able to do things with Fun And Freedom club, we have had some amazing days out and I don’t have to worry about if my brothers will be ok. My brothers like to do things with Adventure Club and we all love that we get to do accessible things as a family.”

Friends and Families’ mission is to make families with disabled children feel valued and experience the best quality of life possible.

Thanks to Friends and Families,Taylor’s whole family regularly accessed a hydrotherapy pool - a fun activity they could all enjoy together. Danny (13) and Sonny (9) have tried new activities, like pottery painting, at Adventure Club. Their Mum and main carer, Theresa, has accessed invaluable Autism Behaviour training and had a chance to relax and look after herself (for a change) with a Parents Spa Day at Home. Taylor has been able to have time to himself, just being a kid, at Fun and Freedom Club for young carers. This even included a week of watersports last Summer and this fantastic opportunity has ignited a new passion for him!

This awesome challenge is Taylor’s way of giving something back to say thank you for the crucial support his family receives and he is asking YOU to help him.

The money that Taylor raises will help provide many families in and around Plymouth with much needed advice and support, great activities they can access and experience as a family and some much needed fun and ‘me time’ for amazing young carers like Taylor.

After an extremely challenging year Taylor really wants to finish 2020 with something incredible to look back on - what an inspirational attitude! Please make a donation, help Taylor to hit his target and support Friends and Families of Special Children to continue their invaluable work with local families.
