Thom is Running the (Virtual) London Marathon for the Lord's Taverners

London Marathon 2021 · 3 October 2021 ·
The London Marathon was meant to be on April 26th, then it was moved to October the 4th and now it has sadly been postponed until October 2021.
There is, however, a 'Virtual London Marathon' being held on the 4th October instead, which I have committed to running.
This requires me to cover the 26.2 mile/ 42.2km distance on a route of my choice at some point between 00:00 and 23:59 on Sunday 4th.
I intend on following the course as much as possible, but starting from home, so should still be taking in Greenwich, The Cutty Sark, the Palace of Westminster and Buckingham Palace, with the addition of the Peckham Arch and the Oval Cricket Ground.
The plan in April was to help raise money for the Lord's Taverners and I am still trying to raise as much for the Tavs as I can for the virtual race. As with so many charities, this year has been particularly tough for the Tavs, missing out on their two main streams of funding - the London Marathon and spectator donations at live cricket matches.
Raising much needed funds is therefore more important than ever, to help the Tavs continue with their amazing work in giving young people a sporting chance.
All donations are greatly appreciated and bear in mind that you are getting great 'bang for your buck' as I've suffered through training twice already and will (hopefully) finally be taking part in the actual event in October next year as well. Bargain.
The Lord's Taverners aims to give young people, particularly those with special needs, a sporting chance. They achieve this by encouraging participation in youth cricket, particularly in disadvantaged areas, and supporting recreational and sporting activities for youngsters with special needs.
