Following a 2 year battle with Mesothelioma my father in law sadly passed in March. Mesothelioma is a type of terminal cancer most commonly associated with asbestos exposure. Because of its long period of dormancy (20-50 years) it can be very difficult to get an early detection, therefore shortening survival rate. 

Derek was an amazing man who taught me a lot in the 13 years I was lucky enough to be a part of his life. Seeing him fight this disease was truly horrific. As a family we feel that it is essential for Mesothelioma UK to continue the good work they are doing to support families at such a difficult time. As well as continuing their research and clinical trials to at the very least improve pain management for Meso sufferers and hopefully one day find a cure for this aggressive cancer.
