Shelter - Vertical Rush 2010 · 25 February 2010 ·

We exist to defend the right to a safe home and fight the devastating impact the housing emergency has on people and society. We believe that home is everything.

Story

Thanks for visiting our page, read on for details!

Building on the success of last years charity run in London, we're hoping to once again raise a small amount in aid of Shelter, a charity that tackles the root causes of bad housing by lobbying government and local authorities for new laws and policies, and more investment, to improve the lives of homeless and badly housed people.

Thomson Reuters, at a wider corporate level, addresses societal needs not only by sharing core skills through the Thomson Reuters Foundation’s programs but through volunteering, support of employee giving and philanthropy. However we, as Elite UK, would like to show our support of this culture by helping support a charity that has real impact locally.

How are we doing this?
Shelter is running the "Vertical Rush"; now in its second year, Vertical Rush is a uniquely demanding and exciting challenge in aid of Shelter. We will be joining 1200 other runners racing up 920 steps to the 42nd floor of Tower 42, the tallest building in the City of London. It'll be painful, there will be tears, laughter and burning hamstrings, but through it all we hope to both raise awareness of the work Shelter does and a small contribution of funds to aid their efforts.

If you can support us on the day, that's even better, come on down and cheer us on. Otherwise, a small contribution will make a big difference.
