We’re Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), and we’re a suicide prevention charity. We host a helpline for people affected by suicide, as well as vital online resources for anyone who needs them.

Story

It started when Nick saw Project 84 at the ITV studios last Spring - 84 male statues on the roof representing the 84 men who  take their own lives every week.  That same week we heard that our neighbour's son had taken his own life on the railway track near the house - he was in his early 40s.  And just a few months' later heard the news that Moira's first husband had also taken his own life - aged 54.  Both had struggled through life with depression and then presumably it all became too much.  The devastation felt by those who loved them, the questions, the what ifs and the desire to find answers is hard to overcome. This is just our way of feeling like we're doing something to help prevent other families, other friends from feeling the intense grief that suicide brings with it for everyone left behind.
