Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Back in September 2014, Ava was pretty much fighting for Survival. At the tender age of 4 months old, Ava had a chest infection, this never went. Soon we noticed spots appearing on her ankles and feet. We had taken her to the out of hours doctor who said it was "chicken pox" Sent us home. Such a restless night, i knew it wasnt chicken pox. So maybe a day later, took her to a different doctors, only this time, Ava was sick, swollen, purple patches, cracked bleeding lips, red eyes and a temp of over 40°c This time, i was told Ava had Kawasaki Disease! We went to the hospital, took bloods for "Measles" The doctor could see " as plain as the sun in the sky" that Ava had purple patching, cracked lips, red eye and whinging, something more was bothering her. Told us instantly she was too young for Kawasaki Disease, sent us home. The very next morning, Ava wasnt feeding, she was so stiff she didnt want to move, had a high temp, cried at the brightness, was swollen head to toe and Purple! I had rung the hospital and explained the situation to them. Receptionist told me "NO RUSH" We raced down. Sat in the waiting area, By this point Ava was choking, crying etc. A nurse took one look and hurried us into a side room. Within minutes, doctors were in asking questions, could clearly see how distressed and Ill she was. They started treatment for Meningitis straight away, had a lumber puncture and treatment for Kawasaki Disease. What topped it off, the first doctor at hospital who sent us away, was the doctor who treated Ava when she was admitted. After staying nearly a week in hospital, she was finally coming home, happy and healthy. No lasting damage! Every single day we count our blessings and realise how lucky we all really are. A true Fighter.
