Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In less than three weeks time, on the 18th September, I shall be undertaking the biggest physical challenge of my life by competing in my first IronMan distance Triathlon. This involves: swimming 3.8km, then cycling 180km and then running a full marathon of 42km. Non-stop. The race is in Henley-on-Thames, with the river swim being a lap and a half of the world famous Regatta course. It all starts at 6:00 am and the cut-off time for completion is only 17 hours. Simply finishing this gruelling event is my target!
In the last 8 months of training I have swum the equivalent of 5 lengths of the English Channel, cycled over 900 laps of the GP circuit at Brands Hatch, run nearly 13 marathons and burned nearly a quarter of a million calories - that's more than 450 Big Macs! I guess I'm as ready as I'll ever be!
My chosen charity is The Motor Neurone Disease Association. A charity very close to my heart, which does amazing work researching this terrible disease and helping sufferers and their families.
