In memory of Dr John Weatherhogg

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As may know, Dad had been suffering from poor health for some years and his health had worsened since losing mum in September 2015. Although he has had Alzheimers for some years now – this seemed to be controlled both with medication and being able to remain at home until last year. However with mum’s passing his health took a very quick turn for the worse and he spent some time in hospital before moving to his final home where he sadly died on Friday 2 September 2016

Dad’s character continued to shine through and even in his last few days the staff would always comment on Dad’s smile, a smile that he had for everyone. Even when his communication had all but failed he still seemed able to follow conversations and give a huge warm smile to everyone. We as a family, and those working with him will always have that memory. In the end however we are relieved that his passing was peaceful and painless. He did not complain and seemed at peace.
