Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am fundraising for the Breast Reconstruction Awareness (BRA) Charity which is located at Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford.
As many of you know my wife had breast cancer in August 2008 which took her through a journey of operations, chemotherapy and radiotherapy followed by a year of heceptin which we celebrated by both running the London Marathon in 2010 to raise money for a breast cancer charity.
Unfortunately, at her 3 year checkup a different type of breast cancer was found which this time required a mastectomy and reconstruction which was carried out by the excellent staff at Broomfield.
She was extremely well looked after in the high dependancy unit immediately after the operation and thats when I found out that the BRA charity provides a lot of additional equipment to make the nurses jobs easier when monitoring the patients and helps provide a high level of care to the patient.
Breast Reconstruction Awareness (BRA) also provide meetings for women newly diagnosed with breast cancer to be able to meet and talk to other women who have been through the same experience. Meetings are open to women who are considering immediate or delayed breast reconstruction, and are also attended by women who have had breast reconstruction and who are at various stages of treatment. for further information click on the link below
