Lucy Air Ambulance for Children is facing a potential 80% loss in income due to cancelled fundraising in response to the Coronavirus. Please support us so we can continue to fly children to hospital.

Story

I am doing this in Memory of my Godson Sebastian who was such a strong little fighter who changed so many lives. I have paid for the run so that 100% of donations raised can go directly to Lucy Air Ambulance.

Lucy Air Ambulance for Children is the only charity in the UK that funds flights for children to hospital by aeroplane. They exist to ensure children are able to access essential medical care regardless of distance. For more information about the great work they do, visit https://www.lucyaac.org.uk

In August last year, I received a phone call from my good friends Liam and Carla to tell me she had gone into labour at roughly only 23 weeks. Carla had just travelled from her home in Lowestoft  to Sheffield to see family when she went into Labour. Liam and his family travelled up to be with Carla and give her the support she needed during this time, and to allow Liam to be with both Carla and Sebastian. However, they knew that this wasn't a permanent solution, so this is where Lucy Air Ambulance stepped in. As it wasn't safe for Sebastian to travel by road, Lucy AA were able to fly him from Sheffield to Norwich safely and successfully where he was able to continue receiving treatment, but much closer to home. This was a safer option for Sebastian as despite the brilliant efforts of all at Jessops, they were not a surgical hospital whereas Norwich was, which meant it was safer for him in case of a surgical emergency. Not only this, but it also meant Liam and Carla were able to go to and from their home to get anything they may need during this difficult time, as well as allowing Liam to return to work when he was able to do so.

Earlier this year, I decided to begin trying to lose weight. With a mixture of dieting and going to the gym, so far I have managed to lose just under 3 stone. With this in mind I decided it would be the perfect time for me to do something that would enable me to give back to such a great cause which helped my closest friends in their time of need. Over the next 3 months I will be training and taking part in the Tough Mudder 10KM in Morden Park on Saturday the 9th of October.
