Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

After a few months of illness my father was finally diagnosed in February 2020 with MND. Sadly things took a turn for the worse and he passed away on the 14th March 2020 after a very brief but harsh battle.

He was incredibly brave in those few months before and the very short time after diagnosis. His death left a rather large void in mine and my families lives. He was not only my father, but my teacher and my best friend.

I decided to set myself a few challenges for 2023 and this is the big one. My self, along with my friends - Duncan, John, Peter, Paul and Simon are going to climb the three peaks - Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in three consecutive days from Friday 24th March to Sunday 26th March.

I feel that this is an appropriate challenge as when I was younger, my father used to take us to Wales and we walked up Snowdon, and Devils Cauldron as well as a few other peaks in the Snowdonia national park as a family on holiday.

MND is a cruel disease, which often goes under the radar. It wasn't until the last few years that I, myself, found out about it. Firstly when a friend's mother passed away from the disease a couple of years before my own father. Now, with all of the fundraising and awareness given by Rob Burrow and his Friend Kevin Sinfield, MND is in the foreground for the public eye and rightly so. It is a disease which robs the sufferer of their life, their dignity and their soul. They become trapped within a body which does not work yet the mind keeps going. Not only is this horrendous for the sufferer, but also the family and care givers for the sufferer. They have the horror of watching their loved one suffer, breakdown and cease to be themselves without the ability of being able to do anything about it. It truly is horrendous and words cannot describe it enough.

I would be incredibly grateful for any donation that you could give to my fundraising effort so I can reach my target. I will be uploading the videos of our climb to my social media once we have completed it.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.
