As many of you will be aware, I DON'T RUN! This fine physique of mine is not built for running, its built for TEQUILA!!! I'm doing this for a personal challenge - I've never done anything like this before and might possibly never again! If i can raise any money at all for such a good cause, then alls good!!

Virtually any compliment I have recieved, almost ever, whether its manners, my creative streak, or very rarely my looks, they are all because of one man, my Dad.

Thomas James Wardle, Jim to anyone this side of a clipboard, was one of the nicest, politest, kind hearted people you could ever hope to meet. He was a firm believer in the term 'If you have nothing nice to say, dont say anything at all' - and boy did he live by it! The kind hearted, loving side of me that you all know and love is because of this man, the bitchy side is from my mum... hahahaha just saying!

Back in early 2009 my Dad fell ill, which was unlike him, most men get 'man flu' and dont shut up about it, Dad could have a nail through his hand and would barely flinch (true story)! He wasn't 'right' for ages, so reluctantly he went to the doctors, and that was that. He was misdiagnosed with everything from stomach ulcers to inflamation of the aesophagus, even assured that whatever this was, it wasnt cancer. They were wrong. His health rapidly deteriorated over the space of 3 months, and sadly in July 2009 I lost possibly the most important, influential, reasonable, witty, loyal, creative thinking, diplomatic, loving and beautiful person my life. He wasn't just my Dad, he was my friend.

In my eye Macmillan did what the NHS don't, care.

Kath was our Macmillan nurse, and was an absolute saint, nothing was too much trouble, she put everyone in their place! Dad liked Kath, so we liked Kath. She could not do enough, organising transport, delivery of breathing aparatus, equipment, anything to make my Dad's life that much easier and comfortable while they could. He wasn't treated like another sob story, there was always laughter in this house when Kath was about, she took the time to get to know him. When our world was falling apart, Kath was there, no judgement, no pity, a friendly, sympathetic face that kept the cogs turning, and in many ways kept us together.

This is why i've chosen Macmillan, I'm running in memory of the majestic man that is my Dad, and supporting the people that helped him.

Anyone who was lucky enough to know my Dad personally, knows hr was one of THE fittest people, EVER! Before he became ill he could easily outrun an 17 year old me! This half marathon could quite literally be a walk in the park for him. I've got big shoes to fill.

I'm a bit late with this, but every penny counts! Even off you bank account and throw me that £1.24, i don't mind! Every donation made is going to an AMAZING cause! If one person benifits from any money I raise, I'll be doing my Dad proud.
