Run the Sahara 2015 · 24 February 2015

We are a London-based charity working with the Saharawi refugees to tell their story, promote their own culture & earn a living through the arts. Our current music project Studio-Live provides training & resources for Saharawi youth to build a local music industry & develop their creative skills.

Story

Sahrawi refugees are  people mostly living in refugee camps in Algerian Sahara. They have been living in the tents in the desert for the last 40 years. Their country of origin is Western Sahara which has been occupied by Morocco. Living in the camps is very harsh. Life cannot be sustained in this envirnoment and people are completly dependent on foregin aid.

I learned about this people, their living conditions and their country from their beautiful music.

I would like to support the young musical talents from the camps so they would be able to develop their skills, tell their story and possibly make their living through the arts.
