Story

We're running the Great North Run for CHUF; the Children's Heart Unit Fund. CHUF's mission is to help to children and young people with heart conditions, by providing lifelong support to them and their families.

The Children's Heart Unit at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle is one of only two units in the UK that can offer pediatric transplants and bridge to transplant operations. The unit regularly treats critically ill babies and children from across the UK.

The team is made up of Directors Tom Tinsley, Adam Kuznesof, Dave Scott; Web Developers Adam McCormick and Christophe Duhaut; Business Development Assistant Kate Johnson; and friends of Transcendit Louise Robson and Mandy Preece.

Dave Scott has a personal relationship with CHUF, 'The original charity was set up by my mam back in the 70s. After we formed Transcendit we wanted to be associated with a charity - and because of my connection with CHUF it felt the natural choice. We've been working with them ever since.'

'The Great North Run is such an iconic part of this city; and with it being their 35th anniversary, it's just the perfect fundraising activity for CHUF. We're really looking forward to the challenge, bringing our team at Transcendit even closer together and raising money for a local charity.'

'CHUF is a huge part of our community,' says Director Tom Tinsley. 'But it goes beyond Newcastle - it changes lives up and down the country. It's a really wonderful charity, and we're very proud to support them.

A lot of the team are already training. It is the first time Adam McCormick has taken on the Great North Run, and he is looking forward to the challenge, ‘I play a lot of five a side football, so I enjoy running, but I’ve not done anything like the Great North Run before. It’s a great challenge to aim for, and it’s good to raise money for a really worthy cause.’

Director Adam Kuznesof completed the Great North Run last year, and is excited to give it another go in 2019. ‘CHUF is such an important organisation, and the donations they receive really make a huge difference to those struggling. It’s great to be able to do things like this as a business, and I’m thrilled so many of our support and web development staff are running as well.’

Tom Tinsley has set a high funding target for the Transcendit team, ‘We're hoping to raise £4,000 for CHUF. This will help them continue running the services that so many young people in the North East depend on.’

‘Please give what you can; every contribution makes a difference and is truly appreciated.
