Story
Alzheimer’s Society are working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. They do this by giving help to those living with dementia today and by providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding ground-breaking research.Thank you for choosing to trek for Alzheimer's Society, together we can be help and hope to everyone affected by dementia.
26 miles with an elevation equivalent to the base camp of Mount everest.
When I signed up for this I still had my grandma, she had vascular dementia.
The last time I saw her she didn't know who I was anymore, I was a lovely young man that she flirted with.
That's the reality if dementia.
She was unwell with sepsis and couldn't tell anyone. Another reality of dementia.
Imagine not being able to tell someone you are feeling poorly.
Imagine not knowing who your family is anymore.
Imagine not understanding what's going on in the world.
What about going to the loo, or making and eating your favourite foods, reading books, talking to people.
Simple skills and interactions that we take for granted every single day.
But dementia takes this away from you.
Alzheimers UK has funded so much research into this awful disease. Paying for PHD researchers, Dr's, nurses, scientists to get some answers into this debilitating disease.
Alzheimers UK supports people, family, friends and patients with this disease.
Anything you can donate would be amazing.
50p, £1, £5 or more.
I'm doing this for my Grandma and my Granny. But I'm also doing this for me, for my parents, for my neighbours and my community.
I don't want my children to grow up knowing that this disease could take us from them and they'd have to care for me.
Anything would be great.
Thankyou
