This is a cause close to my heart for a few reasons. My dad suffered with dementia in the last few years of his life, and his personality disappeared so slowly we didn't even realise we were losing him. It was heart wrenching to look back and realise how little of who he was was left in the end.

Matt (my husband)'s grandad is struggling with Alzheimer's right now, and thankfully he has a lot of family support, but this isn't the case for everyone and that's why an organisation like Alzheimer's Society is so important. Not only do they support those affected by dementia and their families, they fund groundbreaking research that could improves treatments for dementia sufferers in the future.
