Most people know dementia exists but it’s not until it affects you that you realise how devastating it can be. My mother refused to accept there was anything wrong for years and when we finally got a referral to the Memory Clinic, they couldn’t see her because the waitlist was over a year. Following a stay in hospital, she’s now in a wonderful care home. Whilst you’re on this journey with someone you love, it’s incredibly frightening, but the Alzheimer’s Society were always there to support us and so I want to give back by raising as much money as I can by doing this walk.
