Story
Hello everyone,
This is Trichana Rai from Colchester. Originally from Nepal. I had a post partum psychosis after the birth of my son in 2014. I did not know about post partum psychosis before I suffered. I know lots of us still don't know about post partum psychosis.
Postpartum psychosis is a severe, but treatable, form of mental illness that occurs after having a baby and affects 1400 new mums in the UK each year. Unfortunately, I was one of them but I have learned lots of positive things through my post partum psychosis journey.
I have been hospitalised in mother and baby unit for one and half months. I was so poorly. I couldn't takecare of my son and myself. I was very weak mentally and physically. I used to be tearful without any reason, I couldn't sleep several nights and my appetite had also gone down gradually. I even thought sometime there is no reason to live.
I am completely recovered now after taking some medicines for few years and I took Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) as well.
Those moments were very difficult and challenging for me and my family but I have learned and experienced there is always bright light after a thunder storm.
I would like to help those poor mums who are suffering from post partum psychosis like me.Therefore I am running 300km within in 6 months period. I would like to request you all to come and join hands together and help me to achieve this goal which is to raise £500 and make a difference in someone’s life.
Your any contribution will be much appreciated and thank you very much for reading my story.
