Story

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

In May 2019, Donna and I are cycling 355 KM from Milan to Venice across 3 days to raise vital funds for 3 amazing charities Breast Cancer Care, Ovarian Cancer Action and Jo's Cervical Cancer - these three charities are committed to supporting the thousands of people across the UK who are sadly affected by women's cancers and fund research into developing effect treatments and cures for breast, ovarian and cervical cancer.

Are we crazy? Most probably yes!! But, equally, we are so lucky to have our health to even consider taking on a challenge like this, some women aren't so lucky. As most of you all know, I've lost both lost my mum and younger sister to this awful disease. I was very near almost with them.

In 2011, I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Breast Cancer and underwent 18 months of treatment along with 6 operations to remove the cancer and reconstruct my body. Today I still take hormone therapy to minimise the risk of the cancer returning but I NEVER take a single day for granted and we want to do all I can to help other women who are where I have been.

So in 2019, I turn 50 and ready for my next challenge. Enjoying a new found love in cycling this challenge seemed the perfect opportunity.  Donna, a wonderful friend of over 21 years seemed the perfect partner to share this experience with.

This is no easy challenge for us both, at the outset of accepting this challenge we can both cycle approx. 20 miles at any given time, however, we need to multiply that distance by 4 to manage the distance we need to cover each day to achieve this. We have a strict training programme ahead which will mean us training through the winter months, in dark evenings and poor weather conditions!  Determination to raise as much as possible for these amazing charities will help get us through this.

The second challenge is fundraising - we have agreed to raise a whopping £3200 for these charities to share. (Donna and I are meeting the cost of our entry fee, our travel costs and lots of pairs of padded shorts hee hee ourselves) But for the fundraising we really will need your help and support where you are able to and would be hugely grateful for any donation you could make to support us.

Please remember that we are doing this for you, your wives, your girlfriends, your grand-mothers, your mothers, your aunties, your sisters, your daughters.....  and for all the thousands of women across the UK who are sadly affected by women's cancers.

Thank you so much for any donation you are able to give.

lots of love

Trisha and Donna
