Story
Hi Im Trudi Tanner. 19th of September 2009 i lost my dad, Roger Tanner at the age of 55.
My dad had suffered with cancer for several years on and off. First time he had cancer was on his kidney and part of his spine. They took his kidney out and that part of his spine, and rebuilt his spine with his pelvic bone. He has a scar from his belly button round to his spine. He always use to joke that he was going to get a tattoo saying "Jaws was here"
The cancer came back a further three times over a few years on his spine and he had operations to scrap it away. And the cancer returned again but this time they was unable to operate due to it being to close to scar tissue. So eventfully he lost the use of his legs and ending being in a wheel chair.
I saw the struggles my dad went through being in a wheel chair with no use of his legs. He went from such a independentperson to relying on people.
My dad was a very strong man and would never let people outside the family see him in pain or being upset.
I will never understand the pain or upset he had. But in his memory I shall be spending a weekend in a wheel chair. I will be doing everything in it, from going shopping to the pub. But i wont be working.
On 18th and 19th of May
Severn Hospice did alot for my dad and family. They gave my dad a social life. Did things he enjoyed doing like arts and crafts, cooking and a day trip.
So help me raise money for Severn Hospice in Memory of my dad. Roger Tanner
Every little helps
Thank you
