Earlier this year our Head of Logistics, Eve, was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia, a type of blood cancer. Although Eve's treatment is progressing well, she is expected to need a stem cell transplant, and the search for a donor has begun. Anthony Nolan is one of the charities supporting Eve through her treatment, and their bone marrow register will examined to find potential matches for her. Eve's unfortunate diagnoses has inspired UGRacing to support her, and others facing blood cancers and blood disorders, by raising money and awareness for Anthony Nolan and the life-saving work they do. The team will be doing this by:

1. Joining the Anthony Nolan Bone Marrow register, thus becoming a potential lifesaver;
2. Taking on the Ben Nevis challenge to raise vital funds for Anthony Nolan.
   

Anthony Nolan is a UK charity established in 1974 that works in the areas of leukaemia and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. It recruits donors to its aligned Anthony Nolan & NHS Stem Cell Registry. By joining the register, Anthony Nolan matches individuals who are willing to donate their blood stem cells to people who desperately need lifesaving transplants. If you are between 16 and 30 and in good health, it is very easy to register. Fill out a simple online form then a few days later a spit kit will arrive to your provided address. Follow the instructions, spit in it and send it to Anthony Nolan in pre-paid post.

Anthony Nolan are also conducting research to improve the success rates of transplants and improve the lives of all people with blood cancer at the Anthony Nolan Research Institute. As well as providing practical support to those in need of transplants, Anthony Nolan provide emotional support for the patients and their families.
