Story
Unplugged in the Theatre - Saturday 2nd April - in the Theatre Framlingham from 2.30 - 7pm.
26th April UPDATE: £2955.07 was raised at the event and donations via justgiving are in addition: if we can add a few more here we can still hit our £5k target...
This was a non-ticketed event with entry by donations only. All money raised is going to DEC whether via justgiving or donations on the door. The bar at the event was run by local youth charity FAYAP, with all proceeds there going to help young people in and around Framlingham.
The concert was the first major music event in the theatre in over 20 years, possibly longer. The atmosphere was fantastic and it proved a great way to test out a new future for it as a performance space, alongside a new use as an arts venue. For those who don't know, it had a glorious past and was famously once played by David Bowie.
Our event featured 25 performers including Jazz, Chamber Music, Indie-Folk and Singer-songwriters, Poetry, Spoken Word & Hands-on Art.
Bands included The Glass Thistles, The Pancakes, Flaxen, Solitude, D# Quartet, The Mills Quartet, Framlingham primary and secondary school pupils and Stumrebi - a Cambridge Georgian polyphonic choir.
As for the fundraising! We are all aware of the intense conflict in Ukraine, which is threatening the lives and livelihoods of civilians across the country, causing hundreds of thousands to flee. Homes have been destroyed or are unsafe to live in. Essential services have been hit. Families have been separated. People have been injured. Lives have been lost. DEC charities and their local partners are in Ukraine and across the border in the neighbouring countries. They are working to meet the immediate needs of all people fleeing with food, water, medical assistance, protection and trauma care.£30 could provide essential hygiene supplies for three people for one month £50 could provide blankets for 4 families to keep them warm. £100 could provide emergency food for two families for one month. Think what £1000 could do....
