Thank you so much for checking out my JustGiving fundraising page!
On the 3rd of October I will be participating in the London Marathon in honor of my grandma Kaneez Begum.
The last year has been heavy to say the least, as a family we lost our beloved grandma caring mother and devoted wife in November to the horror of COVID-19. As the pandemic has raged through everyone's life, many of us have had to deal with trauma of losing a loved one in these challenging times.
My grandma Kaneez was born in Jhelum, a city in northeast Pakistan, and moved to Bradford in 1971 shortly after marrying my grandad Khadim, who had found work in the city’s textiles factories. Despite being diagnosed with Muscular dystrophy in the mid-1970s, she refused to let the debilitating illness beat her. As her mobility became increasingly limited and being psychically restricted to a wheelchair, her determination to still get out and about only grew stronger. My Grandma has been a source of inspiration in our family and community for a very long time, her physical and emotional presence has and will be greatly missed.
As a young child I never understood the virtue of patience, however through the years witnessing my grandma seek solace in her illnesses and her devotion to her family she became a role model like no other. Seeing first hand her grace and dignity in challenging times of battling cancer, heart attacks and strokes back to back many would loose the will to live, but not my grandma she was a fighter! Oh Yes, she as was a fighter, a fighter like no other! Many friends and family would come visit her bedside, and never would she make them feel like they were visiting an ill person . It was as if her duty was to reverse the attention from herself on to them and make them feel at ease.
My Grandma suffered from Muscular Dystrophy which is an inherited genetic condition that causes the muscles to weaken over time. Therefore my family has chosen to support Muscular Dystrophy UK which is he leading UK charity focusing on muscular dystrophy and other related conditions. They are dedicated to beating muscular dystrophy and other related conditions by finding treatments and cures and to improving the lives of everyone affected by them.
From the bottom of my heart I welcome everyone to join me in making a difference by supporting a good cause! I'm raising money for Muscular Dystrophy UK and any donation will help make an impact. Please when you make a donation can you select Gift Aid, as this allows the chaity to claim 20% more in tax with no extra cost to you.
Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause which means so much to me.
