Story
Thank you for visiting my JustGiving page. As a complete novice runner this will be my first experience taking part in any kind of running event if you don't count sports days in primary school (no I wouldn't either), I thought that it would be a good idea to set myself a goal to give me an incentive to keep at it and so I entered the Liverpool Spring 10k.
I have chosen The Muscular Dystrophy Campaign as my charity after recently meeting Formby mum Rachel Halpin at playgroup. She told me about her son Harry who in 2013 at the age of 2 was diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy. The condition causes muscles to weaken over time leading to paralysis and a shortened life expectancy.
At present there is no known cure. Funding is needed for research and treatments which could lengthen life expectancy and hopefully for Harry time for a cure to be found.
My heart broke when she told me her story, I couldn't imagine what it must be like to receive such devastating news, I decided at that moment that however I could help I would.
Rachel and her husband have since set up the webpage "Help Harry" that explains more about Harry's condition and why they have thrown themselves into fundraising:

It is vital to raise as much money as possible to raise awareness and to fund research into treatments to help Harry and other people with muscular dystrophy. Every little helps, so I'd be very grateful if you could donate whatever you can spare for this fantastic cause.
Thank you.
