Back in 2019, Lucy Jenkins (then aged 12) was diagnosed with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis, where the spine twists and curves to the side. Initially, she was fitted with a spinal brace to try to reduce the curvature naturally which she had to wear for up to 22 hours a day. However, the curve had progressed significantly in a very short space of time and so it was decided that Lucy would need a operation to correct it fully. Finally, in January 2022, Lucy had her successful spinal fusion at Noah's Ark Children’s Hospital. They say that a picture is worth a thousand words, and our cover photo shows how Lucy's spine was (the S in Super Hero!) and how it is now after the operation - what a remarkable transformation. More important than that though is that Lucy is truly amazing - she recovered so well and has been positive and strong throughout - she is indeed our Super Hero! Behind Lucy were her fabulous immediate family, Deb, Jon and Hannah (let alone the rest of her family and friends) and they received so much support from Noah's Ark that it was felt they would like to give something back. It is safe to say that Lucy is our Super Hero but the team at Noah's Ark are definitely hers! To say thank you for the fabulous treatment and care received, 'Lucy's Super Heroes' are undertaking the Noah's Ark 5km Super Hero Dash on 25th September at Pontcanna Fields in Cardiff at 9am. If you can, please do support us - every penny will go to help saying thank you to Noah's Ark Children's Hospital.
