Story
Vicky James was a fantastic person, she loved life and was full of fun. She had everything to live for; 2 amazing children and 2 beautiful grandchildren who she adored, a loving family and a very wide network of friends. Vicky loved her job working with the children at Windmill Hill City Farm and also offered supported housing to young people leaving care. Nothing was too much for Vicky, she was always there when needed with words of wisdom and practical support. She said it like it was and that's what we all love about her.
Vicky was in good health and generally fit and active, however, Vicky had an undiagnosed heart condition called Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. It was just a normal day, Vicky had been at work, and in the evening while she was on her way to visit a friend, Vicky collapsed and died suddenly leaving a wave of devastation and disbelief behind.
We would like to raise awareness of this condition and do something positive in Vicky's memory so we are planning a walk from Bristol to Bath along the cycle path on Sunday 3rd September 2017. Meeting at Bitton Railway Station at 10.30, heading off at 11am, everyone is welcome to join us and share this Just Giving page to raise as much money for the British Heart Foundation as possible.
Vicky loved disco music so we will be dressing up with a 70's theme listening to music along the way. We will finish the walk in Victoria Park and celebrate with a picnic so bring something nice to eat and drink.
This is a family event so children can come along on their bikes, scooters, what ever they like! You can visit the British Heart Foundation and register as a walker and you will receive your own fund raising pack.
