Zoë's Place provides 24-hour palliative, respite and end-of-life care to infants aged 0-5 years with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions. We provide short-term regular care with our dedicated nursing staff, in a home from home environment to give parents and carers a well deserved break.

Story

From our first cycling date in April 2016, we gained momentum and have been free-wheeling ever since!  Our Wedding on 19th August is rapidly approaching and we cant wait to celebrate with many of our family and friends (although a few will be missing *sob* )

But don't panic people, life will never be an ordinary affair, and to start as we mean to go on, our honeymoon will be somewhat unusual.  We intend to honeymoon in Ireland - what's so strange about that?  Well we will be cycling over 300 miles in four days, all the way from the Capital of Cork to the Heritage site of the Giants Causeway.  And just to add a bit of comedy value, we will be cycling on a borrowed tandem (thankyou Richard Irving!), that is yet to be re-built!  So we will have around 8-10 weeks(with a wedding in-between) to become a lean mean tandem machine!  Will the marriage be over before it has started??? Watch this space haha!

We are taking on this challenge to help raise funds for Zoe's Place Baby Hospice, based in Coventry.  Phil and I are very lucky, our children are fit and healthy and can enjoy all the opportunities life has to offer.  However, there are families out there that are not so lucky, their lives are very different.  As parents, we all know kids can be challenging at the best of times.  But just imagine if your child had a life limiting illness.  Your life would change overnight.  Getting out of the house would be a military operation, there would be no "dropping off the kids to Grandparents / friends / nursery" because their condition is too complex.  You most probably would have to give up work.  Where do you go for support? Who could you turn to for advice?  Who understands all the problems you are facing?

Zoe's Place Baby Hospice does.

The hospice supports around 40 families with respite care, therapy, parents groups, sibling support and so much more.  The hospice is literally a lifeline for the families who come here.  However, less than 15% of the required annual income comes from the government.  The rest has to be raised by public donations. From people like ME and people like YOU.

So, if you could help us reach our target of £2000, which covers 4 days of 1:1 care for a baby or young child.  Each day we saddle up to ride, we will know that that day is covered for one of the babies back at the hospice.  What a gift that would be. :)
