Vicky's Vikings are a formidable force. We were formed when our amazing leader Vicky Holliday was first diagnosed with breast cancer. In 2014, we took on a 10k run to celebrate her recovery. Since then we have remained a force and resource for action and support for one another.
Seven years later, our hearts were broken on the 18th July, when cancer took our leader and shining star from us. She was 45. A cherished partner, mother, daughter, sister and friend. We miss her terribly.
Her Vikings decided straight away to take on another group challenge in her honour. So, on July 10th, if regulations allow, we are hiking 25 miles on the Gower Peninsula to celebrate our dear friend, but also to raise as much money as possible for a charity that supports people with cancer, day in day out.
Macmillan Cancer Support will move mountains to help people with cancer live life as fully as they can. They take the time to understand the person affected and what matters to them, to ensure they get the support needed to take care of their health, protect personal relationships and deal with money and work worries. So please make a donation if you can to help them continue to do this invaluable work.
For those of you who knew Vicky, or know any of us, will understand how important completing this hike will be. Please send positive vibes to help us make it though in one piece, and enjoy the bath and Prosecco bubbles that will await our safe return!
Vicky's Vikings are: Vicky Holliday (still the leader); Kate Edmunds; Kate Aubrey; Kirsty Lay; Claire Sullivan; Trisha Sherman; Ceri Cummings; Leanne Jones; Zoraida Moral; Vicky Carter; Rachelle Gadd; Sarah Evans; Stacy Botwood; Laurie Jenkins; Jenna Hosgood; Cath Hicks; Jodie Phillips; Sarah Jones.
We thank you, in advance, for your support.
