Story
Our Pop (our husband, our Dad, our Grandad & our Great Grandad), was the biggest, strongest, kindest and most inspiring human we all knew. When he was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma in November 2016 we were devastated. Truth be told we think his doctors were treating his symptoms three years prior to the diagnosis, but the lump in his neck only revealed it's self very recently.
In the last days of his life Pop was at home with his family. We cared for him, we surrounded his bed with love. We talked about all our most favourite memories with him and as always our family unit was strong, we were there for him and each other, of course we were, that is what he taught us. He taught us the value and beauty of family (as well as a million other things).
During the last 4 days of his life we were visited daily by a nurse/Health care worker from St Francis hospice. Now, it takes a certain type of person to walk into a family home, in the worst situation possible, let alone into our family home. We are fiercely loyal and insisted on only the best care for this beautiful man. Yet every one who visited from St Francis Hospice (Anne, Julie, Karen, Sharon - to name a few) seemed to just fit right in. They were always there when we had a question or needed help and support, yet it never felt imposing, in fact it was very comforting to know they were there and could just make themselves at home. They also cared as much as we did about Pop, by making him as comfortable as possible.
We will never forget those ladies, They are a credit to St Francis Hospice. You are all angels!
Thank you, thank you for everything you did for us and for our beloved Pop xxxxxxx
