Great North Swim 2017 · 9 June 2017 ·

Every day police officers are suffering injuries and illnesses that have an impact on their work to protect local communities. The Police Treatment Centres is a registered charity which provides vital treatment and support to help these officers return to better health and get back to work sooner.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

2016 was the year of bilateral total hip replacements for me. After each operation I was lucky enough to receive treatment at the Police Treatment Centre in Harrogate.  I have now been able to return to full duties at work. Without their treatment and ongoing support I know I wouldn't have made it.

The PTCs offer physical and psychological treatment for serving and retired officers.  The staff and facilities are excellent, but it is a Charity and as such relies on contributions and fundraising.  Officers have to contribute to be able to attend the centres but those contributions are not enough to sustain these facilities.

So having not needed them for 20 years, but being incredibly glad they were there when I did, I thought I would pay a little back.  I am aiming to swim a mile in Lake Windermere in June and I would be incredibly grateful for your sponsorship!
