On the afternoon of 19th Aug one by one each of our netball team took a call from our wonderful captain Jen. Unbeknown to most of us, Jen had found a
lump in her breast two weeks previous and had been involved in medical
appointments which had confirmed her worst fear of breast cancer that Friday
morning.

Jen is the strength of our team, the life and soul of every party, the
heart of gold who is loving and caring to all, the voice of reason in a crisis
(or an umpire dispute!)

The news hit like a tonne of bricks - fear, disbelief and anger at this disease striking our truly wonderful friend.  In true Vixen style within a number of hours
the team gathered at Jen's house to cry, hug, and down a few shots!!

We all know that Jen will fight and beat this disease but
there will be major challenges along the way - the first Chemo knocked her off
her feet and the second batch is set to do the same, this time taking her beautiful hair in just a few short weeks time.

As a sign of solidarity we have decided to shave our heads together. In doing
so we hope to help Jen on this journey as well as raising some serious funds
for Macmillan to help others facing cancer.

The shave will take place at The Rubery and Rednal Royal British Legion (who are fully supporting our event) 64 New Road Rubery, Birmingham, B45 9HY on Sunday 25th September at 6.30pm.
