Brenda Rattray: A song for the butterflies/Fundraise performance event put on hold until further notice!!

A song for the butterflies · 1 April 2020
Seven years ago, a beautiful little boy died aged 5. He attended my daughters school. I read about his death in the school newsletter and it brought tears to my eyes as I looked down at my little girl and held her little hand even tighter.
The thought of suffering such a loss overwhelmed me and I wanted to do something small for the family.
I couldn't bring their son back but I could actively demonstrate that the loss of his little life was a loss to the whole community!!
At that time I organised an Open mic night, and it was amazing!! I have recently felt the need to revisit Demelza and raise more money for them.
As a working mother I know that bringing up children and raising a healthy, happy family is hard work at the best of times.
My visits to the little boy's family and Demelza hospice, (where he died) taught me that when a child is born with or develops a terminal condition, the emotional and physical impact affects the whole family and can be overwhelming.
Demelza focus on supporting each child, young person and family they work with to achieve the best possible life. As specialists in care for young people and family support, they will continue to use their outstanding knowledge, experience and expertise to help families enjoy their lives together with the money we raise!
The butterfly room was where this little boy was laid to rest so that his family could mourn his loss before his body was take from them.
